Monitor Connection/Motherboard

Connecting the a monitor the CaptureCastTM Pro can be done and is recommend for the initial setup. VGA, HDMI and DVI-D should be connected before the CaptureCastTM Pro is powered on. Swapping between digital to digital or analog to analog cables is not a problem, but if you were to go from analog to digital or vice versa please power down the unit first. If you are having a hard time connecting the DVI-D cable to the unit, please make sure you are using the correct DVI cable. There are multiple types of DVI connections and the differences can be subtle.

  • VGA: VGA outputs are not recommended on the Cattura Capture Agent because of their unreliability. A monitor can be connected to the agent via VGA cable, but it's recommended for start-up only.
  • HDMI: You can connect a monitor to the Capture Agent via HDMI cable. However, if you are currently using DVI for output and wish to use HDMI, you will have to connect the HDMI cable and reboot the agent so that the new connection is detected.
  • DVI: You can connect a monitor using DVI, but as stated above, if you are already using HDMI for output you will have to connect with DVI and reboot the agent in order for it to recognize the new connection.

Motherboards

Through the iterations of the Cattura CaptureCast Pro we have used three motherboards to date. The Asus P8H67-M Evo and P8Z77-M as well as the Intel DQ77mk. Below you will find port explanations. If you wish for more information on these motherboards I recommend going to their respective websites. 1st, 2nd or 3rd generation motherboards will not affect performance. The changes in motherboards were due to stock and pricing only.

It may be beneficial to note that we do not support USB Mic/Cameras as well as the eight millimeter jack on the motherboard. If you wish to use these then you are welcome but issues dealing with these devices will be a very low priority to Cattura Video.
